Election Results
The City of Nehalem will have the position of Mayor and two (2) City Council positions on the ballot in the November 5, 2024, General Election. All positions are non-partisan. All positions are volunteer/non-paid. Terms begin January 2025. Mayor position term is 2 years. The City Council terms are 4-years. Please, see the chart below.

How to File for Office
Filing opens on June 5, 2024.
- Bring your SEL101 and SEL121 to Nehalem City Hall for approval before gathering signatures. (Please call ahead for an appointment.) .) If you need documents provided, please contact the Election Officer. Contact information is below.
- Return your SEL101 and SEL121 to Nehalem City Hall by August 14, 2024, by 4:00 p.m. to allow time for us to submit the filing to the County Clerk for signature verification before filing closes on August 27, 2024.

When completing the forms, please note the following:
• Our Filing Officer is the City Manager Lori Longfellow
• For city offices, party affiliation is "Nonpartisan"
• To be qualified, you must be a registered voter and must have resided in the City limits during the 12 months immediately preceding the election.
• Indicate the Office you are filing for and Position.
• By our City Charter, filing is only by signature (Prospective Petition)
• The signature requirement is the lesser of either 500 signatures or 1% of the number of votes cast in the district for Governor. For Nehalem, this is 2 signatures. It is recommended that you obtain more than the required number of signatures to make sure the petition contains a valid number of signatures. Signers should be an active registered voter at the time of signing the petition and must reside within city limits.
